How it works

How live are the prices?

Every price comes from real Grand Exchange trades reported to the OSRS Wiki by RuneLite players. The wiki publishes them in one-minute batches, so prices are usually 1–2 minutes behind the game, and this page re-checks every 30 seconds. Jagex doesn't publish live prices, so nothing is truly to-the-second.

Why the wiki's numbers look reversed

The OSRS Wiki's "buy price" is the last instant buy (the high price) and its "sell price" is the last instant sell (the low price). Flipping works the other way round: you place a buy offer near the low price and a sell offer near the high price. Each card shows both: your offer price, and underneath it the last real trade and how long ago it happened.

Cautious offer prices

"Buy at" is the higher of the last instant-sell and the 5-minute average, plus 1gp. "Sell at" is the lower of the last instant-buy and the 5-minute average, minus 1gp. One player overpaying can't inflate the sell price, and the margin must also hold on hourly averages.

In-game GE price

"In-game GE price" comes straight from Jagex's official Grand Exchange database, so it matches what you see when you open the GE in game. Jagex only updates it once a day, so it can be well off what people are paying right now. Offers fill at live trade prices, so flip with the buy and sell offers, and use the in-game price as a reference.

Picking items

Every tradable item is scored on its margin after the 2% GE tax, buy limit, your cash stack and how much really trades. Stale prices, one-off spikes and dead items are skipped.

GE tax

The GE keeps 2% of every sale, rounded down and capped at 5m per item. Items under 50gp and a few exempt items (bonds, basic tools) pay nothing. Every profit on this page is after tax, worked out at the exact price you'll sell at.

Forecasts

The top 40 items each get three models trained on their own last ~15 days: ridge regression, Holt trend smoothing and mean reversion. Each is tested on hours it never saw, and only models that beat "price stays the same" get a say.

Signals

Flip: buy low, sell high now. Hold: a rise is expected, so the sell target is raised. Risky: a drop is expected, so sell fast. Avoid: the expected drop is bigger than the margin.

Limits

Forecasts are hints, not guarantees. Margins can close before your offer fills, and game updates move prices in ways no model sees. Start small.
